Although it might not seem so at first glance, installing this artwork was quite a complex undertaking.

My name is Andreas Ehmann; I am the registrar at the Kunst Museum Winterthur and, as such, responsible for the installation of the artworks – or, to be more precise, for organising their installation. Due to its considerable weight, it wasn’t entirely clear whether we would be able to display Tony Cragg’s artwork in this room at all. An engineer had to come by to calculate the floor load and give us the go-ahead to actually install the work here, where it now stands – or rather, lies. But that wasn’t the end of it. With the help of an art transport company and a gantry crane, we had to manoeuvre the work out of its crate in a lengthy process and install it here.

However, it can happen that works cannot be exhibited because the passageway is too narrow or, for example, the weight is too great; in such cases, we have to choose a different exhibition space. That certainly does happen.
